MESA, AZ (January 9, 2025) — Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation celebrated the grand opening of its state-of-the-art Customer Support service center at Mesa Gateway Airport, marking a significant milestone for the aviation leader. The $130 million, 225,000-square-foot facility is poised to enhance Gulfstream’s ability to serve customers in the Western United States while contributing to local economic growth.
The ceremonial ribbon-cutting event brought together Gulfstream executives, state and local officials, community partners, and employees to commemorate the official launch of the Mesa Service Center. The facility, which began initial operations in 2022, is now fully operational, offering a comprehensive range of maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services.
A Modern Facility for Comprehensive Aircraft Support
The Mesa Service Center can accommodate up to 13 large-cabin Gulfstream aircraft simultaneously, providing a range of services, including maintenance, avionics upgrades, inspections, and drop-in support for all Gulfstream models. Complementing the new facility, Gulfstream’s existing west campus in Mesa continues to support up to 10 large- and mid-cabin aircraft.
“The opening of Gulfstream’s new Mesa Service Center aligns with our strategic vision to provide the industry’s most modern service network, sustainably designed to serve our customers where and when they need us,” said Mark Burns, President of Gulfstream. “Our Mesa team is well-prepared to deliver the high-quality service and safety measures Gulfstream is known for.”
Driving Economic Growth and Workforce Development
The Mesa Service Center has already created over 250 jobs in the region, with an additional 100 positions expected to be filled this year. Gulfstream has partnered with local educational institutions to develop a skilled workforce through apprenticeship and internship programs. These efforts aim to build a pipeline of talent to support the growing aviation industry in Arizona.
Commitment to Sustainability
The Mesa facility is designed with sustainability at its core, incorporating energy-efficient features and eco-friendly practices. Gulfstream anticipates earning Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification for the facility later this year. Key sustainability initiatives include:
- Use of recycled and regional materials to minimize environmental impact.
- Enhanced measures to reduce water and energy consumption.
- Recycling of construction waste.
- On-site storage of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) blends with a 30,000-gallon tank dedicated to supporting greener aviation.
Expanding a Global Service Network
The Mesa Service Center joins Gulfstream’s extensive Customer Support network, which includes facilities in Van Nuys, California; Appleton, Wisconsin; Fort Worth, Texas; Palm Beach, Florida; Farnborough, England; and Savannah, Georgia. This expansion underscores Gulfstream’s commitment to delivering exceptional service and support to its global customer base.
With its advanced capabilities, sustainable design, and focus on workforce development, Gulfstream’s new Mesa Service Center represents a significant investment in both the aviation industry and the Mesa community.
