The $25 million expansion project aims to provide Gateway Airport with a modern, large, and ADA-enhanced commercial passenger facility which can accommodate more passengers in the future.
The project is being partially funded by Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and chose McCarthy Building Companies as its general contractor.
Construction is set to add a new 30,000 square foot terminal and replace a temporary structure which is already 13 years old.
The current 10,000 square-foot temporary structure has 10 gates but has a limited number of flights each day.
It is expected to be completed by February 2024 and demolition of the temporary facility is planned for December this year, according to a news release. The new expansion terminal will include a concession space and new retail.
When the new expansion project is completed, it is expected that the economy will increase even more and the experience of the passengers even better.
