The City of Mesa is partnering with United Food Bank for the annual Turkey Tuesday frozen turkey and cash donation drive. The event will take place on Nov. 14 at the Mesa Convention Center North Parking Lot, located at 40 E. 3rd Place, from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. This year’s goal is to collect 2,000 turkeys and $20,000 in cash donations to help provide holiday meals for the less fortunate in our community.
“The City of Mesa’s partnership with United Food Bank is instrumental in getting food to those in need,” said Mayor John Giles. “The Turkey Tuesday event is a great way to kick off the season of gratitude, and I have no doubt Mesa residents and businesses will extend their generosity in helping to reach this year’s collection goal.” The Mesa community’s generous contributions at last year’s event yielded a total of 923 turkeys and $19,858 in donations.
This year’s event sponsor, Five Guys Roofing, will be matching donations up to $10,000 for twice the impact. The community is invited to contribute to this generous match and join the City of Mesa and United Food Bank in celebrating this season of gratitude by giving to those in need.
Anyone able to contribute is welcome to drop-off frozen turkeys at the United Food Bank truck at the Convention Center. In addition to turkeys, City employees will also be collecting canned goods and cash donations to help benefit United Food Bank. Every $31 raised helps provide a turkey for a family in need this holiday season. Monetary donations can be made online at www.feedaz.org.
“We are so grateful to the City of Mesa for their partnership and support as we prepare for our upcoming holiday food distributions,” said United Food Bank CEO, Jason Reed. “The holiday season can be a tough time for many families experiencing food insecurity, and we are thankful to the entire Arizona community for helping us provide each family with traditional holiday meals.”
This is the 15th Annual Great Turkey Tuesday collaboration between the City of Mesa and United Food Bank.
