Jessica Larsen, a Mesa resident and Queen Creek High School student, was one of only two Arizona students to be named a track and field All-American Paralympics athlete for 2014.
Jessica, who suffered an injury to her spinal cord six years ago, has been a standout in competition with athletes all over the world. She took fifth place in the 200, 400, and 800 meters races at the International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports junior games in the UK this past summer, and ranks among the top six women in the U.S. with her best 800 meter time of 2:28:45.
She is focused on her classwork at Queen Creek High School and will be participating in the Run, Walk, and Roll in January in Phoenix. She hopes to get a scholarship to University of Illinois.
