Mesa Public Schools is one of the few school districts in the US to join the League of Innovative Schools, a national coalition of forward-thinking school districts organized by Digital Promise, an independent, bipartisan nonprofit organization authorized by Congress to accelerate innovation in education.
The League’s goal is to connect outstanding leaders in education that spearhead new and creative education practices, then magnify and strengthen their ideas so educators and students around the country can benefit.
The director of the Digital Promise League of Innovative Schools, Sara Schapiro, said that adding the new school district will add “…a wealth of insights, ideas and energy to help our members effectively support teaching and learning through technology.”
Mesa Public Schools was selected from a competitive and national pool of applicants based on leadership, evidence of results, innovative vision for learning and commitment to collaboration.
“Membership in the League of Innovative Schools will provide Mesa Public Schools the opportunity to embody what we espouse-learning through interaction and exchange with our peers-so we can be the catalyst for students to reach their full potential.” said Dr. Michael Cowan, superintendent.
