Mesa, AZ — Residents eager to get a closer look at the inner workings of the Mesa Police Department now have their chance. Registration is open for the department’s Fall Community Engagement Academy, scheduled for Saturday, October 18th.
The one-day program offers participants a hands-on experience designed to give a firsthand understanding of a day in the life of a Mesa police officer. Attendees will take part in interactive trainings, presentations, and discussions covering department policies, practices, and procedures.
“The Community Engagement Academy, or CEA, is a unique opportunity for residents to see how our officers operate and to engage with our team in a meaningful way,” said a department spokesperson. “We encourage community leaders and residents alike to attend and learn more about our work and resources.”
The curriculum may include common policing scenarios, training and use of force discussions, and demonstrations by specialized units. Participants will also gain insight into community resources and programs.
To participate, residents must be at least 18 years old and live or work in Mesa. A background clearance is required before the class date.
The academy provides a rare opportunity to foster stronger relationships between the police department and the community, offering a behind-the-scenes look that goes beyond traditional public engagement.
