During the operation, overnight restrictions on weekends are expected. The westbound SR 24 at Ellsworth is scheduled to be closed from 9pm on Fridays to 5am on Mondays starting Feb 26 to April 5, 2021. Alternate routes on Ellsworth and Elliot Roads will be available.

Brief closures of Ellsworth near the intersection are scheduled from 7pm to 5am Sunday through Thursday for approximately four months starting Sunday, February 21.

The Arizona Department of transportation have work zones setup for the construction of the East Valley freeway projects also known as SR 24. This is in alignment to the planned extension of the State Route 24 (Gateway Freeway) and an interchange along Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) at Lindsay Road.

Ongoing construction of the State Route 24 project (SR 24) which had started in December will give more accessible routes to travelers in the east Mesa and south Gilbert areas.

The $77 million project will give an additional four-lane, five-mile divided roadway between Ellsworth Road and Ironwood Drive. This will help accommodate the growing traffic demands and will open by the end of 2022.

Drivers are expected to be cautious at all times and to watch out for crews and equipment while passing through the project areas.
