SR 24 nears completion

Next month the Valley’s newest stretch of freeway, State Route 24 with ramp connections to Loop 202 (Santan Freeway), will open to drivers. Crews are nearing construction completion, which will require closures and restrictions over the next two weeks.

As work on SR 24 continues, drivers traveling in far-east Mesa this weekend should be aware of the following closures on the Loop 202:

  •  Westbound Loop 202 closed between Elliot and Hawes roads from 9 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday (April 4) for overhead sign work. DETOUR: Use Elliot Road west to Power Road, south to Loop 202.
  •  Westbound Loop 202 closed between Elliot and Power roads from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, April 7 for rubberized asphalt paving, Los Angeles paving contractors. DETOUR: Use Elliot Road west to Power Road, south to Loop 202.
  • Eastbound Loop 202 on-ramp at Hawes Road closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 5. DETOUR: Use on-ramp at Elliot or Power roads.
