A new indoor family entertainment destination could be coming to southeast Mesa. A pre-submittal application has been filed with the City of Mesa for The Rush Funplex, a proposed indoor recreation and entertainment venue near the southwest corner of Ellsworth Road and Warner Road in Mesa’s District 6. According to the initial proposal, the project is still in the earliest phase of the city’s development review process, meaning plans are preliminary and subject to change.

If the project moves forward, it would add another large-scale family entertainment option to one of Mesa’s fastest-growing areas, bringing a variety of indoor attractions together under one roof.
What Is Planned for The Rush Funplex?

Based on the project narrative submitted during the pre-submittal process, The Rush Funplex is envisioned as a comprehensive indoor entertainment venue featuring attractions and amenities for guests of all ages.
The proposal includes plans for:
- Bowling lanes
- Billiards
- Indoor go-karts
- Arcade games
- Bumper cars
- Climbing walls
- Foam pit attractions
- Party rooms
- Restaurant and food service areas
- Building support and operational spaces
These proposed attractions closely mirror those offered at existing Rush Funplex locations, which feature all-day indoor entertainment designed for families, birthday parties, school groups, and corporate events.
Still in the Earliest Phase of the Process

Although excitement is building, city officials emphasize that this proposal is only at the pre-submittal stage.
A pre-submittal application allows developers to meet with City of Mesa planning staff before submitting formal zoning or development applications. During this stage, city staff review conceptual plans, identify potential planning issues, explain required approvals, and outline the next steps in the entitlement process. A pre-submittal conference does not represent project approval or guarantee that the development will ultimately move forward.
Because the project remains preliminary, details—including the site layout, building design, amenities, and approval timeline—could change as the review process continues.
Community Input Is Part of the Process
Mesa District 6 is encouraging residents to participate early by submitting comments and questions regarding the proposed project.
Community members can email their feedback to planning.info@mesaaz.gov. When submitting comments, residents should include both the project description and the applicable PRS case number in the email subject line so feedback can be directed to the appropriate planning staff.
Public participation is an important part of Mesa’s development review process, particularly for projects that may require future zoning or land-use approvals. Additional information about the City’s planning and pre-submittal procedures is available through Mesa Development Services.
Growing Entertainment Options in Southeast Mesa
The proposed Rush Funplex would add to the expanding mix of retail, dining, residential, and recreational developments taking shape in southeast Mesa. The Ellsworth and Warner corridor has experienced significant growth in recent years, making it one of the city’s fastest-developing areas.
If approved and ultimately constructed, the entertainment venue could provide local families with a new year-round indoor destination featuring activities, dining, and event spaces without having to travel outside the area.
For now, however, the project remains in its conceptual review phase, and additional applications, public meetings, and city approvals would be required before construction could begin.
