The City of Mesa’s newest Volunteer Recruitment Fair is Wednesday, April 20 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Mesa Arts Center. It is a tremendous opportunity for residents to learn about the different ways to volunteer, become active in the community and help other Mesa residents.
Several City departments will have information and staff available to answer questions. Mesa Police, Mesa Fire and Medical, Parks and Recreation, Mesa Public Library, Mesa Arts Center, Arizona Museum of Natural History and the i.d.e.a Museum will be among the many City departments participating. Just Serve, an online service that links community volunteer needs with people ready to help, will have representatives at the fair.
The Volunteer Recruitment Fair also features arts and crafts, volunteer registration at the Community Engagement van, giveaways and a raffle.
The event is part of the City’s celebration of National Volunteer Week, April 17-23. This year’s national theme is Volunteering is Empathy in Action, affirming the strong connection between volunteerism and empathy.
Mesa has an online system to search for volunteer opportunities based on area of interest, length of time commitment and more. For details, visit mesaaz.gov/volunteer. One major event needing volunteers is the Titan Solar Power Arizona Celebration of Freedom on Monday, July 4. To register, visit azcelebrationoffreedom.org.
