Mesa is moving full speed ahead with the highly anticipated Phase II of Signal Butte Park, located just north of the existing park and desert wash. Thanks to community support for the 2018 Parks and Culture Bond, this next phase will transform the area into a vibrant, activity-filled destination for residents and visitors alike.

Mesa City Council has already approved GMP 1, covering electrical equipment, and is scheduled to consider GMP 2 on July 8. Construction is slated to begin in summer 2025, with completion projected for summer 2026.

What’s Coming to Signal Butte Park – Phase II?

Phase II of the park will bring a host of exciting new features that expand recreation and accessibility:

  • Bike Park with BMX Trails – A purpose-built bike park for adventure seekers of all ages.
  • Lighted Asphalt Walking Trail – 1.5 miles of paved trail for walking, running, and biking, even after dark.
  • Pedestrian Bridge – A bridge over the desert wash will connect Phase I to Phase II, ensuring a continuous park experience.
  • Three Covered Ramadas – Shaded gathering spaces ideal for picnics, events, or simply relaxing outdoors.
  • Restroom Facility – A convenient addition for families and visitors spending extended time at the park.
  • New Parking Lot – Added access and convenience for guests arriving by car.

A Community-Driven Project

This expansion is made possible by Mesa voters who approved the 2018 Parks and Culture Bond, showing continued investment in quality-of-life improvements across the city.

With features designed for both active recreation and peaceful outdoor enjoyment, Phase II of Signal Butte Park is shaping up to be a true community asset. Whether you’re into biking, walking, or just enjoying Mesa’s beautiful desert landscape, this new park phase promises something for everyone.

When Can You Visit?

Construction will begin in summer 2025 and is expected to wrap by summer 2026. Get ready for a brand-new place to play, connect, and explore!
