The City of Mesa Historic Preservation Office invites you to Downtown Historic Preservation Day Saturday, May 13 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Nile Theater, 105 W. Main St. The event is part of Mesa’s celebration of National Historic Preservation Month.

The event begins with a reception with Mesa Historic Preservation Board members and student winners of the City’s Historic Essay and Visual Arts Contest. After a brief talk about the Nile’s recent restoration, the historic preservation celebration continues with a free guided walking tour of downtown Mesa, including a scavenger hunt. The event ends at the Nile where the scavenger hunt answers can be turned in for prizes. Printouts will be available for those wishing to take a self-guided tour.

During National Historic Preservation Month in May, the City of Mesa Historic Preservation Office and other government agencies join with historical societies and preservation groups across the country to promote the importance of preserving historic places.

The City of Mesa is proud to have seven historic districts (neighborhoods) and 11 landmarks listed on the Mesa Historic Property Register.
