Beginning April 30, 2025, at 5 a.m., the intersection at Elliot Road and Sossaman Road in Mesa will be completely closed to all traffic in all directions. The closure, which is scheduled to last through May 21, 2025, at 5 p.m., is necessary to allow for the installation of utility lines, as well as grading and pavement improvements.

This project was originally delayed but is now moving forward. The intersection will be fully closed for the duration of the work, so drivers are advised to plan ahead and follow the posted detour routes.

Detour Routes:

  • Northbound Sossaman Road: Use Warner Road to Ellsworth Road.
  • Southbound Sossaman Road: Use Guadalupe Road to Power Road to Ellsworth Road.
  • Eastbound Elliot Road: Use Power Road to Guadalupe Road to Ray Road.
  • Westbound Elliot Road: Use Hawes Road to Guadalupe Road.

Motorists are encouraged to drive with caution near construction zones and to allow extra time for their commutes. The City of Mesa thanks residents and travelers for their patience during this important infrastructure upgrade.

Special thanks to Mesa Council District 6 Council member Scott Somers for keeping the community informed.
