Free event Tuesday, Sept. 29, at the Mesa Convention Center brings together six East Valley communities and Maricopa County
If you or someone you know is looking for work, circle next Tuesday on the calendar. The City of Mesa is hosting the first annual Elevate East Valley Workforce Hiring Event on Tuesday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mesa Convention Center, 263 N. Center St.
This isn’t just a Mesa thing. The event is a regional partnership between Mesa, Maricopa County, and the communities of Gilbert, Tempe, Chandler, Queen Creek and Apache Junction, which means job seekers from all over the East Valley are invited.
More than 100 employers are expected to be on hand, representing a wide range of industries including manufacturing, healthcare, hospitality and tourism, information technology, and local government.
Mesa Mayor Mark Freeman said, “Workforce development and education are key priorities for me and for Mesa.” He added that the goal is twofold: connecting residents with good jobs and real career paths, while helping local businesses find the skilled workers they need. Freeman called the event an example of what the region can accomplish by working together.
Maricopa County Supervisor Thomas Galvin echoed that, describing the East Valley as a continuing hub of growth in the county and saying partnerships between local governments and the business community create opportunity that benefits everyone.
Beyond the employer booths, attendees will also find community resources on site, including information about educational opportunities and social services.
The event is free for both employers and job seekers, and organizers are encouraging people of all experience levels and backgrounds to attend.
