This year’s Mesa Hydration Donation Campaign has received 219,665 bottles of water since the start of the collection drive on June 1. That is a decline of more than 110,000 bottles from the same period last year. The annual campaign helps people in need, including the homeless and unsheltered during the hot summer months.

“I’m amazed by and grateful for the generosity of our community to support those in need during the hot summer months,” said Mesa Mayor John Giles. “As temperatures heat up, let’s help push this campaign over the finish line. Donating a case of water or making a modest contribution could be a lifesaver.”

This year’s goal is to collect 600,000 bottles of water. There are 25 drop-off locations throughout the City where you can donate water. The list of locations is available at www.mesaaz.gov/H2OMesa. Cash donations are also accepted.

“United Food Bank is grateful for the donations of water and money we have received so far, but we have a long way to go to meet the need in our community. We know there are businesses and residents out there who can still help. Now is the time. We need you right now.” said Davie Richins, United Food Bank CEO. “Remember, a five dollar donation or a case of water will save lives.”

A unique way to donate is through the One Ton Water Challenge. Promoted by the Mesa Chamber of Commerce, United Food Bank and the City of Mesa, it challenges businesses, residents and organizations to buy a pallet of water, which weighs more than one ton, for approximately $200. Individuals can split the cost so it’s about 100 dollars each. To donate a pallet, contact Becca Gilbert at begilbert@unitedfoodbank.org.

Individual cases of water can be donated at the Klaus Team office at Ellsworth and Guadalupe Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm, or at an Klaus Team Open House.

The Mesa Hydration Donation Campaign will be collecting water until Friday, Sept. 30.

Lifesaving campaign has less than two months to achieve collection goal.
