The City of Mesa’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Program, in partnership with Mesa Public Library, is excited to announce the second annual Bike to Books contest. This creative competition invites students and homeschoolers from prekindergarten to 12th grade to design unique bike symbol art for a shared use path in Mesa.
The initiative aims to promote both cycling and reading among Mesa residents, encouraging them to bike to public libraries or neighborhood little libraries.
Grand prize winners will see their artwork installed on a Mesa shared use path next winter. Prizes will be awarded in three grade categories: prekindergarten to 2nd grade, 3rd through 6th grade, and 7th through 12th grade.
Mesa Library Director Polly Bonnett said, “It was exciting to see last year’s winners light up when they saw their final designs installed.”
She also mentioned, “The contest celebrates the adventures of both biking and reading, and we can’t wait to see the creative designs our young participants come up with next.”
To participate, visit any Mesa Public Library location to pick up a design sheet or download a copy from the library’s website. Completed designs can be submitted at any Mesa Public Library location. The deadline for submissions is July 31, with winners to be announced in the fall.
