The Golf Life can begin at a young age for Southeast Mesa children with The First Tee at Augusta Ranch Golf Club, with a strong focus on life skills added in.

Responsibility, respect, integrity and confidence are among the traits that can help a young person on the road to success. Sports have been traditional vehicles for teaching such values in an engaging way. One sport in particular not only teaches positive life lessons, but also depends on an adherence to them for its very existence. That sport is golf.

The First Tee of Phoenix was created to positively impact the lives of Maricopa County’s young people by teaching life skills and character education through the game of golf. The goal of the organization is to provide the golf-learning facilities and experience that will enable youth from every walk of life to partake of a most enjoyable game – one that teaches values for life and which can be played for a lifetime.

The First Tee of Phoenix at Augusta Ranch GC has been added to reach youth in the Gilbert/Mesa and surrounding areas. Augusta Ranch GC will provide year round programming to many youth in the area and will continue with programming similar to that of the South Mountain, Desert Mirage, Papago, Longbow, Lone Tree, The City of Phoenix Courses and Palm Valley GC/Valley Golf Center sites.

First Tee of Phoenix is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing affordable access to golf for young people in Maricopa County. They enjoy the support of The Thunderbirds and other organizations and individuals. Proceeds from the Phoenix Open helps to support organizations such as First Tee.
