Developers of the planned extension of SR24 are asking for a change from commercial to residential zoning in a section of 20 acres near Ray and Crismon roads.

Construction had started on State Route 24 and the existing plan allows both residential and commercial developments.

The plan approved by the city in 2008 permits 15,000 residential units, both homes and apartments. Around 2,000 to 6,000 more residential units are being requested by the developers, however, some residents do not agree.

Developers promised that this project will help build a substantial employment zone and help reach the city’s economic goals.
