More Growth Underway at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway

Able broke ground on a new 52,000 square foot facility at the south end of Gateway Airport off Sossaman and Velocity Way.

The company is spending $9 million on the upgraded facilities and is expected to open in June 2019. Upon completion of the project, Able is expecting to hire another 100 employees, bringing their total workforce to over 550 employees.

Able Aerospace Services relocated its headquarters at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in 2013. Since that time, Able has added more than 200 employees and now, after nearly 5 years, they have outgrown their existing headquarters and maintenance facility. This expansion allows Able to enhance the technology used in its repair and overhaul process, and to diversify into new product and services.

Able Aerospace Services, a Textron Aviation Inc. company is one of the world’s leading aerospace repair, overhaul, design and manufacturing facilities. Able Aerospace Services has provided over 27 years of aviation experience manufacturing parts and repair and overhaul services for helicopter and fixed wing operators worldwide. The company also provides airframe and flight control assemblies including flap and slat assembly mechanism, flight control mechanism, and hydraulic components.

“Able Aerospace Services has been a great contributor and a tremendous success story for not only District 6 but the entire City of Mesa, and I could not be more excited that they have decided to grow and expand their Mesa operation,” said Mesa Councilman Kevin Thompson. “They have played a major role in the development of the Gateway Airport area, and this addition will cement their status as a key stakeholder in District 6 and the City of Mesa.”

The Able Maintenance Center located at the Able campus delivers airframe repair and completion services, avionics upgrades and full paint services. Able has a team of more than 450 highly trained mechanics, engineers, customer service and sales specialist.

The Able expansion has started construction and is expected to be completed by this Summer 2019.
