Swing into Gilbert’s Opening Day at Cactus Yards sports facility at the Elliot District Park. The town owned facility has been undergoing renovations & repairs and will reopen under a new name, while sporting a new look.
The celebration is this Saturday, February 9th from 4:00-8:30 pm. This is a FREE, family fun event with something for every age, live music, movie on the ballfield, games, inflatables, skills challenges, and cornhole. Enjoy several tasty food options from Primetime Grill, a 75-foot barbeque trailer, and Sliders, the onsite restaurant ran by Craft Culinary Concepts that serves up a scratch made culinary experience.
Gilbert is proud to announce the new partnerships for Cactus Yards, which includes the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation. The Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation will enhance the Diamondbacks Field, which is one of eight replica fields, with a newly redesigned scoreboard showing homage to the Arizona home team. Representatives from the Cardinals, Diamondbacks, Coyotes, Phoenix Rising, and Park University will also be onsite for the festivities.
The Opening Ceremony begins at 6:00 pm on the Cactus Yard’s D-backs Field where the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation will reveal the newly renovated scoreboard. A fireworks show sponsored by Haydon Building Corp is scheduled to follow. Score a home run by getting there early! Gilbert Parks and Recreation will be giving away commemorative Cactus Yard baseballs to the first 500 kids.
