Southeast Mesa is continuing to grow, with city leaders giving the green light to several new housing projects. In a recent meeting, the Planning and Zoning Board unanimously approved three developments that will add nearly 600 homes and apartments to the area.
New Apartment Community Near Eastmark

One of the projects, Liv at Eastmark, will bring 208 apartment units to the corner of Ellsworth and Ray roads. The development will feature 12 three-story buildings, along with a clubhouse, maintenance building, and plenty of parking.
City planners say the project fits well with the vision for the area—a walkable, mixed-use community where people can live close to shopping, dining, and entertainment.
It’s also right next to EastMarket, a growing shopping center anchored by Sprouts Farmers Market that’s expected to become a go-to spot for residents in the Eastmark area.
More Single-Family Homes on the Way

Two additional projects—Haven at Destination and Haven at Hawes—are moving forward for final approval.
Haven at Destination, located near Meridian Road and State Route 24, will include 155 single-family homes. Plans also feature open spaces, a small park, and amenities like pickleball courts and shaded gathering areas.
City staff reviewed some design details, like garage spacing and layout, but overall found no major issues with the proposal.
Family-Friendly Community Planned at Hawes Road

Haven at Hawes is expected to add about 230 homes near Hawes Road and Mesquite Street.
This community is designed with lifestyle in mind, including amenities like a pool, clubhouse, fitness stations, playgrounds, picnic areas, and more pickleball courts.
The project also includes a request to officially bring the land into Mesa city limits. Once that happens, zoning will be updated to allow for residential development.
Little Opposition, Continued Growth
Interestingly, none of the projects received strong public opposition. Only a small number of residents attended neighborhood meetings, and feedback was limited.
That’s in line with what’s happening across the East Valley, where growth continues at a steady pace. According to regional data, this part of Mesa remains one of the fastest-growing areas in the Phoenix metro.
What This Means for the Area
With nearly 600 new homes and apartments planned, Southeast Mesa is clearly on a strong growth path. These projects bring a mix of housing options along with nearby shopping and community amenities.
For residents, that means more choices, more convenience, and a neighborhood that continues to evolve.
