SE Mesa continues to grow with the new development Avalon Crossing being approved by the Mesa Planning and Zoning Board.

This planned community project will bring 588 homes to District 6 in SE Mesa and will be able to accommodate around 2,000 people for the city.

Developers Brookfield and D.R. Horton are partnering on this project located just south of Cadence and west of ET Motopark.

Lisa Atkins, Arizona State Land Commissioner said, “Homebuilder D.R. Horton purchased an 8,000-acre state trust land parcel next to ET Motorsports.”

She also added, “While the land that was occupied by ET Motorsports has not been sold, it is included in the development plan, and will likely go to auction for sale in the near future.”

To be able to serve the hundreds of planned homes, the developer will have to build roads, water lines, and sewer lines.

Mesa Councilman Kevin Thompson said, “What they’re planning to do is kind of like Eastmark and is going to be phenomenal for Apache Junction. It’s really going to help them grow.”

He also stated, “It’s the shovel that’s going to create more shovels –  the project that creates more projects.”

Schools, parks, and businesses are also included on this master-planned community project.
