Writer in Residence offers free virtual workshops at Mesa Public Library

Mesa, AZ – Mesa Public Library is excited to continue our Writer in Residence program in partnership with Arizona State Library. Sheila Grinell will be Writer in Residence through April.

Grinell is the founding CEO of the Arizona Science Center, whose “second act” is that of novelist. She is the author of Appetite (2016) and The Contract (2019). She will be offering free virtual writing workshops and consultations.

Among the virtual events she is hosting:

Writer in Residence Consultation Hours

Mondays and Wednesdays 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. (30 minute sessions)

From February through April, Grinell will hold one-on-one consultation hours to help aspiring authors fine-tune their work. To book your appointment, visit our sign-up form at https://events.mesalibrary.org/.

Thinking of Writing a Book?

Friday, Feb 12, 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. – Virtual (registration required)

As you contemplate that idea that’s been floating around the back of your mind, there are five things to consider before putting pen to paper or fingers to keys. She will give this 25-minute talk followed by a Q&A session.

Writing as a Second Act

Saturday, Feb 27, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. – Virtual (registration required)

Our Writer in Residence began writing fiction in her sixties. There are both pros and cons to starting to write fiction later in life. She will share the secrets to a satisfying second act in this 25-minute talk, followed by a Q&A session.
