East Valley Institute of Technology Students Help Build New Community in Mesa

A new community, Cadence at Gateway, located between Pecos and Ray Road, is currently being developed. The first phase of the community will provide around 600 new homes with hopes of bringing shops, parks and a community center featuring pools and fitness center.

The developer, Harvard Investments, is offering students enrolled in construction and interior design programs a chance to see how a community is built. There is no better learning experience then on the site! Students will be able to get their hands dirty and see what it takes to build a brand new community.

Around 200 students are currently enrolled for this 12 month program that begins August 25th. EVIT will get to see the master planning, how the property is zoned and get real-time learning with these professionals.

The community is planned to be completed in May 2017. “It adds a lot of value to the city of Mesa or any city as long as it’s done properly,” Krumwiede, President of Harvard Investments said. “It makes for a more cohesive community, and studies have shown that property values are higher in master-planned communities and the satisfaction of residents are higher in them, too.”
